- Light is important in your booth, at inside and outdoor shows. Often electricity is a pay feature on site, but sometimes it's not available. It usually is worth paying the fees, though be aware that some show organizers want to rake in more money by charging a lot for that service. A cheaper, but more involved solution are deep cycle batteries for your lights - but they can be a pain in the backside (literally - they are heavy! - then again, they can help weight down your tent, though not a smart idea in the rain). They do need to be recharged, etc., so it is a bit of a hassle.
But a well lit tent will always be more attractive than a dark one.
If your work is 3d or has a lot of texture, a few well placed spots will really bring out your best work and draw people in.

Take the time to look around at the next art show and pay attention to the booths with lots of light, vs those without - it does make a big difference.

Bring an extra chair if you can, so you can offer a seat to shoppers walking with elderly parents, pregnant women, friends you want to chat with longer than just a few seconds, fellow artists, etc. - just a cozy touch that might encourage a longer visit in your booth.Someday I will add a small red stuffed wingchair to my booth for patrons to sit and contemplate my art in - just a small touch of comfy in a not so comfy environment.

Along those same lines: keep a few bottles of water handy, especially at outdoor shows in warm weather (though I've had this happen at indoor shows equally often). About every second show I do brings someone on the verge of collapse to the front of my tent (my art must have some kind of magnet in it for that) - lots of times it's elderly ladies asking for a short rest on my chair, or wanting to know if there is some water for sale nearby...
It might not bring in sales, but it brings something nice into the world nonetheless, to share a bit of human kindness by sharing some water and a resting spot with them. And the person that gets the help probably won't forget your kindness either, even if they do forget your name or your artwork.

I only have done one outdoor show a couple of years ago-and I was working with a small budget. Here's a picture of the setup.

blumoon - Nice setup lady

I've got an outdoor event coming up and I'm a little nervous.

They have electricity available at the location but it's a very small affair and I don't think there will be Electricity for all. There are some 'sponsored' artists going that I think have preference on the facilities.

I'm very excited about this show all things aside. Quite nervous to be honist
