Anytime someone sends you a note saying they want to pay with MO or check and have no feedback be very careful how you work with them on ANY site(they are everywhere)and never respond to their email until you've checked up on them...my hubby is a techie so he looks up their ip to see where they are coming from...also read the tips here for spotting scams)...

Made 2 sales here so far and just started heavily promoting it within my blog eccommerce store etc...if you arent using the seller tools here...do! great way to drive traffic to your listings

Regards,
Pam

I've sold a couple of things on here. Actually about 4 but two buyers ran off and didn't follow through. But I'm holding out hope that this is still a great place to showcase works without getting murdered in costs. And yes indeed, it is a collective effort. We need to advertise the fact that we use this. I do on my blog and my email signature. Eventually I'm looking at pulling the plug everywhere else but here. My previous buyers from everywhere will know this is now where I'm selling out of.

Hi all,

I had a bid which ran the entire 3-month period. However, when I sent the winning bidder a PayPal bill they just let the pay-up date expire. It is a shame for the bidder because I was going to let the painting go for a song. If they only knew! I hope this was not one of those "scams" It is the kind of thing that really gets my temperature up!

At least no one got hurt and I have my painting ready to sell again.

I learned so much from my buddy Conni during this particular auction that in a way it was all worth it in the long run. Thanks for your help Conni.

Keep smiling and they will all smile with you!

Just checking in to see if anyone has had ANYTHING moving at all. I've since moved most of my work here and while I'm getting a lot of views, I'm not getting any action whatsoever.

I've been highlighting ABU as the main source for my work on everything I do but I'm just wondering...is the economy getting too scary for everyone anymore? Seems like some people are still selling well online and I know that the gallery I belong to has had a record breaking three months this summer and into fall...but wow, online is just dead.

Or is it me?

Chris

From what I've been seeing and reading, sales are down not only in the online world, but also in the regular art fairs and festivals.
Affluent buyers will always have money to spend - but they generally don't spend it online or at art fairs, but prefer galleries instead.
People on a middle class income, the ones that would buy online and at art fairs are the ones suffering the most from the current economic situation, so they have been holding back on major purchases in most cases.

To counteract that, it might make sense to start offering lower-end priced work - but that could also backfire, by blocking sales of all your higher end work.

If ever, it has now become necessary to have a well thought out marketing plan, that includes not only showing your work in a venue, but also making sure that potential buyers are enticed to be there to find it.
It might shift the focus of your activities from creating to marketing for a while - but it might just be the thing needed to move your work faster.

We have a whole range of free marketing tools you can use to help your online marketing efforts. There are no guarantees that it will work, but something is almost always better than nothing in the marketing world.

I agree The sales of my originals are down, but I am now offering at my art fairs and shows a wide range of prints both high end Giclees ( $100 to $300) and the cheaper photo prints of my art work matted.. I found that if you keep the cheaper prints at a reasonable price ...eg. $15 to $25.00 for a matted 11x14 you will do well. The last fair I did I sold over $1500.00 in cheap prints alone .. I was happy with that.. Karin
